Year: 1L (Class of 2018)
Undergraduate institution: Union College, Class of 2015, graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
- Sports and Entertainment Law Society
- Business Law Society
Favorite class: My favorite course thus far is Constitutional Law with Professor Greenfield. The course is both intellectually challenging and extremely relevant to the events of today. It has helped put in perspective how the Supreme Court Justices interpret the Constitution and the differing reasons as to how they view a particular case or aspect of law. Having an understanding of Constitutional Law is critical in understanding recent Supreme Court decisions and the positives and negatives associated with particular rulings.
What do you hope to do after graduation? I entered law school having worked with the Public Defender’s Office in St. Lawrence County and the private law firm of Parisi, Coan and Saccocio in Schenectady, NY. I also worked at Transfinder, a major software and transportation company, which introduced me to the business world. Through these experiences, I have entered law school with an open mind and a desire to find my true passion, which I wish to pursue after my three years at BC Law.
Why law school? I have always wished to attend law school for as long as I can remember. Throughout my childhood I vividly recall going over my grandparents’ house after school and watching legal shows and court trials instead of cartoons. My desire to learn and to ask questions has always motivated me to aspire to understand the world, which is why I believe that I decided to attend law school.
Why BC Law? I chose BC Law because it is exactly what I wanted in a law school. Coming from a small liberal arts school, I thought it would be impossible to find a law school with a similar feel. Upon walking through the doors at BC Law, I was immediately welcomed by both students and staff who introduced me to the collegial environment that is BC Law. So far, I can happily say I made the right decision!
What most surprised you about BC Law when you got here? When I was applying to law school, I heard horror stories about the quality of life during those three years. I can honestly say that I have yet to see any of this at BC Law! Being surrounded by great professors and a student body that is both intelligent and welcoming has shown me how lucky I am to have the opportunity to study law in such an environment (Minus all of the New England Patriots fans, Go Bills!).
Michael Donadio is a 1L at BC Law and a BC Law Ambassador. Feel free to contact him with questions about his experience, BC Law, or law school in general. Comment here or send him an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Boston College Law Ambassadors is a newly launched program designed to enhance the on-campus experience for every prospective student who visits BC Law. The Ambassadors are thirty students who lead campus tours, help out at Admitted Students Day, and serve as a resource for applicants and admitted students who are considering enrolling at BC Law.
In support of this role, each Ambassador will be profiled on the Impact blog over the course of the school year. If you are a prospective student and notice something about any of our Ambassadors that you’d like to discuss with him or her – whether it’s a shared alma mater, an interesting extracurricular, or an appealing summer job – do not hesitate to reach out. After all, that’s what we’re here for!
