‘A Culture of Excellence, Dialogue, and Integrity: Q&A with LLM Student Shrishti

Get to know Boston College Law School from the perspective of our current student, Shrishti, who is concentrating on Intellectual Property and whose home country is India:

What motivated you to pursue an LLM, and why did you choose this particular program?

I pursued an LLM to expand my global legal perspective and gain a deeper understanding of U.S. legal frameworks. BC Law stood out for its strong academic tradition, commitment to ethical leadership, and its inclusive approach to integrating international students into the fabric of the law school. I wanted a program that was both intellectually rigorous and personally transformative — and BC Law delivered.

Can you describe the most rewarding aspect of your LLM experience?

The opportunity to challenge myself in an academic environment that values both precision and creativity. I’ve found space to grow, lead, and contribute meaningfully to discussions on contemporary legal issues. Those moments of connection and recognition — by faculty and peers alike — have been especially fulfilling.

How would you describe the overall academic environment?

BC Law fosters a culture of excellence, dialogue, and integrity. The classroom dynamic is vibrant, driven by professors who encourage us to think beyond the black letter of the law and apply doctrine to complex, real-world problems. The academic environment is rigorous, but never isolating — it’s intellectually demanding and deeply collaborative.

How has the program helped you develop both academically and professionally?

Academically, the program has refined my analytical thinking, enhanced my understanding of comparative legal systems, and strengthened my research and writing skills. Professionally, it has opened doors to a global legal network and built my confidence in navigating both U.S. and international legal contexts. The exposure to U.S. legal norms and advocacy has helped me reimagine my future legal career through a more global and strategic lens.

Are there any courses that you found particularly impactful or transformative?

Courses like Antitrust Law and Corporate Law were game-changers for me. They pushed me to think like an economist and lawyer simultaneously — to analyze markets, understand regulatory dynamics, and assess the strategic behavior of firms. The way these courses integrated policy with practice was eye-opening and deeply enriching.

How would you describe the student community in your LLM program and at Boston College Law School as a whole?

The community is one of the greatest strengths of BC Law. It’s intellectually curious, diverse, and inclusive. From day one, I felt welcomed — not just as a student, but as a peer. LLM and JD students collaborate regularly, and there’s a genuine culture of support, whether it’s through study groups, career workshops, or just informal conversations over coffee.

How has your experience living in Boston been?

Boston has been the perfect city to pursue an LLM. It’s rich in history, alive with innovation, and home to a thriving legal and academic ecosystem. Beyond the classroom, I’ve attended lectures at top universities, explored world-class museums, and found a sense of belonging in a city that’s both dynamic and inviting. It’s a place that constantly inspires you to learn more and do more.
