Leena Alasaad

Name: Leena Alasaad

Hometown: Dracut, Massachusetts

Educational Background: Undergraduate degree in Political Science, with a minor in Philosophy and Law, University of Massachusetts Boston

What did you do before coming to law school?

Before coming to law school, I was a full-time undergraduate student and followed a K–JD path. I began my legal education at Suffolk University Law School, where I completed my 1L year before transferring to Boston College Law School. That transition was a significant step in my academic journey and reinforced my commitment to pursuing a rigorous and values-driven legal education.

Why did you decide to go to law school? And why BC Law?

I decided to go to law school after a deeply personal experience in which my family and I were unlawfully detained at the U.S./Canada border. We later became part of a class action lawsuit filed by the ACLU, and witnessing that litigation firsthand solidified my desire to pursue law, particularly as a tool for accountability and justice.

Boston College Law School had always been my dream school. I was drawn to its strong sense of community, favorable student-to-faculty ratio, and genuinely supportive administration. BC Law’s emphasis on mentorship, ethics, and professional development made it the ideal environment for my legal growth.

How have your past experiences informed your law school experience and future career interests?

My past experiences have strongly shaped both my law school journey and my future career interests. Serving as a student-certified attorney and gaining hands-on experience in litigation has deepened my enthusiasm for courtroom advocacy and strengthened my practical skills. At the same time, my exposure to transactional work has sparked a growing interest in that area as well, and I am continuing to explore both paths as I define my long-term career goals. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to becoming a thoughtful, well-rounded attorney capable of serving clients in multiple capacities.
