Finding Creative Solutions to Human Problems: Meet Taha Din

There are numerous roads to law school, and no one-size fits all path to a successful legal career. Follow along with our series highlighting BC Law students and how they got here!

Last year’s entries: Sara Womble (Winston Salem, NC); Elias Massion (Nashville, TN); Samina Gagné (London); Alvin Synarong (Murfreesboro, Tennessee); Ruchita Jain (Edina, Minnesota); Nicole Bauer (Michigan); Carlos Robles-Cruz (Puerto Rico).

Name: Taha Din

Hometown: Naperville, IL

Educational Background: I graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2021, where I studied History, Classical Civilization, and Arabic Language.

What did you do before coming to law school?

Before coming to law school, I worked for two and a half years at a human rights and immigration law organization mainly doing asylum and SIJS work. I also spent time building out a sports development project in Pakistan which funds after-school athletic programming for children in underserved communities around Karachi.

Why did you decide to go to law school? And why BC Law?

I decided to go to law school because I wanted to build a career where I could learn about people, hear their stories, foster relationships, and work with them to find creative solutions to their problems. Law, at its core, is a profession based on stories; clients come in with challenges, histories, and goals, and it’s our job to connect the dots and turn it all into a strategy. This sounds pretty fun to me. I chose BC Law because I wanted to learn from the top professors in the country and be surrounded by ambitious peers who are genuinely nice people. Also, I was ready for a new adventure after spending my whole life in Chicago, and Boston had a unique pull being a city with lots of history and good energy. Committing to BC has been one of the best decisions I’ve made, and I’m lucky to have met some great friends here. I really feel like I’m part of a special community.

How have your past experiences informed your law school experience and future career interests?

My parents immigrated to the U.S. from Pakistan in the ’90s, so I grew up balancing the culture of my home with the very different world I encountered outside every day. That experience taught me to pay close attention to how people, shaped by their own backgrounds, approach the same problems from different angles. I’m excited for a career spent in rooms where people have competing goals, tactics, and I look forward to piecing all those moving parts together into solutions that actually work.
